antique-jacobean-style-glazed-bureau-bookcase
Antique Jacobean style glazed bureau bookcase

This is an absolutely gorgeous piece of furniture!

Solid oak, 1900-1920c, fold down bureau with 2 drawers underneath and barely twist legs. Lovely decorative beading and motif, I think the handles may be whale bone but I’m not sure and certainly wouldn’t swear to it. There are a couple of historic splits in the side panels of the oak, but not at all structural. The frame is completely solid and strong.

Inside is a super pretty cubby, with drawers and storage sections to keep everything organised. Original writing pad almost completely intact just a couple of very small worn patches.

The top section is a beautiful glazed bookcase with unusual design leaded glass, and beading around the windows. 2 original solid wood shelves and a super cute tiny key for the lock. I think there may have originally been another shelf to make a false bottom for hiding things, as there is hidden depth and fittings in place but the shelf isn’t there.

I have sympathetically restored this piece, cleaning and feeding the wood, and giving it a fresh coat of wax and buff. The colour oak is beautifully aged, obviously some scratches and marks still visible in places, but in keeping with something over 100 years old!

The pretty original hardware has had a little bit of antique brass rub and buff to give a little sparkle and colour.

Delivery will be special single item only, no standard delivery.
