I decided to enhance the gothic feel of the piece by using black with subtle gold detailing.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003eTo begin, I cleaned the piece with sugar soap and warm soapy water. Next, I primed with Dixie Belle Slick Stick and Zinsser Bin. I applied three coats of Shabby Chic Liquorice black followed by two coats of Polyvine satin varnish to seal and protect. The decorative corbels were then given a light coat of antique gold to highlight the details.
