Whisky barrels can be over 80 years old before they are retired, so this table top certainly has a history. The barrel top bears the multiple layers of paint applied each time the barrel was refilled with whisky, before being laid down to mature. Its underside was charred to add flavour and colour to the spirit, but don’t worry, it’s now brushed back and sealed with gloss varnish to protect.
I’ve added images of some of my favourite whiskies and you could add your own to personalise it further.
The top is supported by 3 solid, black, metal legs.
Most of my pieces are rescued from landfill and whilst I clean, repair and prep all pieces before upcycling, some signs of ageing and wear and tear cannot be fixed - I like to think these imperfections add to the character of the pieces.
Profits from the sale of my items are donated to CAC Climbers Against Cancer which funds projects supporting people living with cancer around the world.
