Hello! Welcome to my listing for this little vintage records cabinet.... its been so much fun to re-design the surface, using lots of clashing colour and boho / Indian inspirations for its palette.
Its a practical wooden cabinet, originally made for a hifi, I kept the shelf in place as it also works so well for 12 " vinyls and 7" below.
The lift up lid is great for either using it to put a hi fi inside, or keeping it closed to put a portable vinyl record player on top.
On to the colour schemes, finishes, products I used etc..
The interior was first, using two tins of eco friendly propellant free Pebeo fuscia pink spray chalk paint.
The door interior has the same blended green as the outer - which is ReColours deep delta dark jade recycled chalkpaint blended up to Farrow and Balls yeabridge green water based gloss.. I then applied each panel with several sheets of gold leaf, before turning my attention to the embellishment on the front exterior of the door.
I used a gold sheet base, followed with bright pink chalk paint by Rustoleum, and deep delta/ yeabridge blend, before picking out the tiny details in yeabridge green. The carved embellishment was a triple semi circular sunshine ray shape so for the top panel above it I used the bright pink as a base, applying three coats and then I used a 12" vinyl record to make the half circle shape within it. I then pencilled in the sun rays with a protractor, and masked off each section to then repeat the greens, and finish with a gold leaf ray in the middle. All the surfaces were then coated with natural wax and buffed for their protection.
The inspiration came from many places but I particularly had in mind the colours from The Beatles Sergeant Peppers album cover.
I have lots of videos of the processes I used and more photos of it before, during and after etc..
Thanks very much for viewing my work - do get in touch if you would like to see the work and my other items in place at my workshop in Accrington, Lancashire.

"I was looking for a piece to stand next to a small ornate fireplace in our 1920’s build home and kept coming back to this lovely makeover, named ‘Grace’. I’m so delighted to have bought it. Mandy took time and care in delivering it and although she emphasised the fact it was an old piece I can only re-emphasise that that is exactly what I was looking for. It is testament to her skills that she has given ‘Grace’ a wonderful new lease of life. The stencilling on the drawers is top notch; the piece is painted beautifully - including the bits you wouldn’t normally see, which I prefer. The beautifully highlighted claw feet on the bottom of the piece are a real treat to look at, and my beady-eyed art tutor/’general expert on painted stuff’ agreed Mandys’ work is superb – sympathetic to the piece and to a high standard. I know I shall enjoy having Grace grace our home for many years".

"I don’t like to match furniture and love mish mash, quirky and odd looking things lol. I absolutely love them. My house is 203 years old and is grade II listed. I think it makes an old cottage come alive and puts a modern twist on it. I love furniture that tells a story or gets people talking at a house party".
