This gorgeous oak writing bureau has been lovingly restored and given a new lease of life.
The desk has been fully stripped back, then carefully hand painted in “Spanish Moss”, a beautifully soft green grey by Dixie Belle, and clear waxed to protect.
The legs and internal base have been stripped of the original varnish and white waxed to highlight the grain of the oak.
Internally the body of the piece and the fall front has been painted in the same colour and white waxed to complement the legs.
The original handles have been thoroughly cleaned and gold wax applied. The two main drawers have solid wood bases and dove tail joints.
Perfect for the home office, or as a dressing table using the hinged fall front.

"I was looking for a piece to stand next to a small ornate fireplace in our 1920’s build home and kept coming back to this lovely makeover, named ‘Grace’. I’m so delighted to have bought it. Mandy took time and care in delivering it and although she emphasised the fact it was an old piece I can only re-emphasise that that is exactly what I was looking for. It is testament to her skills that she has given ‘Grace’ a wonderful new lease of life. The stencilling on the drawers is top notch; the piece is painted beautifully - including the bits you wouldn’t normally see, which I prefer. The beautifully highlighted claw feet on the bottom of the piece are a real treat to look at, and my beady-eyed art tutor/’general expert on painted stuff’ agreed Mandys’ work is superb – sympathetic to the piece and to a high standard. I know I shall enjoy having Grace grace our home for many years".

"I don’t like to match furniture and love mish mash, quirky and odd looking things lol. I absolutely love them. My house is 203 years old and is grade II listed. I think it makes an old cottage come alive and puts a modern twist on it. I love furniture that tells a story or gets people talking at a house party".
