The large surfaces of this antique chest of drawers could not be saved. They needed flexible wood filler in several places and therefore a painted surface was the only solution.\u003cbr\u003eThe paint I chose to use was one of my favourites - a limited edition colour, 'midnight moment' in recycled chalk paint made by Dulux's community repaint brand, recolour.\u003cbr\u003eThe locks on each drawer front were removed and freed from all the dust inside the mechanism, then replaced. They work with the key provided but a better key would improve the lock aesthetically and functionally. \u003cbr\u003eFor the drawer fronts, I used 150 gsm paper from a design inspired by the Natural History Museum, called Fierce Creatures, featuring gothic styled lions, and placed the pattern very carefully, for symetry.\u003cbr\u003eFor the top drawers I used a gold leaf base, which I aged using craquleure products by Annie Sloan and dark wax by the same brand.
