Antique Large Breakfront Mid Victorian Estate Country Sideboard Bank of Drawers Housekeeper Dresser Chest, c1850 This impressive mid Victorian estate sideboard is a true country-house workhorse, combining a long bank of drawers with a central cupboard to create generous, practical storage. Dating to around 1850 and crafted in solid pine, it has a classic breakfront form: two banks of graduated drawers flank a central cupboard with a single drawer above, all set on a plinth base with panelled ends. The scrubbed top shows a lovely, honest patina from years of service, with knots, marks and wear that speak of its life in a busy housekeeper’s room or estate pantry. The dark painted panelled back hints at its original use as a fitted counter against a wall. Original iron handles and the turned cupboard knob add to the country charm. At Height 851 mm, Width 1765 mm and Depth 490 mm, it’s a superb length for a kitchen island, shop counter, hallway console or dining room sideboard, offering masses of storage for linen, tableware, paperwork or craft supplies while keeping the look relaxed, warm and authentically Victorian.
