Preamble
Upcite is a multi-vendor marketplace that brings together buyers and sellers of furniture. We at Upcite acknowledge and value the personal nature of your information. Our obligation to safeguard it is paramount, and we vow to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and security. It is our pledge that we will never distribute, sell, or exchange your personal data with any other entity for marketing reasons. For more details, kindly refer to our privacy policy here.
1. Collection of Personal Information
To utilise most services on Upcite, creating an account with accurate information such as a valid email address, name, and profile picture is a requirement. These details are modifiable at your discretion within your account settings. Your account details provide us with the opportunity to create a personalised experience for you and other users. The data you share when creating a listing on Upcite marketplace will be made publicly available as per our terms of use.
Your location details are essential to access specific Upcite features, like 'items closest to me.' We also require a payment method input in your profile for transactions on Upcite's marketplace. This data will be securely shared with our payment processor, Shopify Payments, should you
engage in a transaction on Upcite.
2. Selling on Upcite
If you intend to be a seller on Upcite, providing a payment
source to receive any sales amounts is required. It is the seller's responsibility
to ensure their information is current and correct.
3. Information Usage
Your data enhances our ability to execute your orders, update you on your order's progress, and assist in any future customer service enquiries. If you consent to receive non-essential communications from Upcite, we may occasionally send you promotional offers or correspond with you based on your indicated preferences.
We might employ your data, including your Upcite purchases, interaction habits, browsing history, and geographic location, to personalise our communication with you. Some communications from us are mandatory, such as order confirmations and notifications, regardless of your marketing preferences.
We also utilise trusted third-party service providers for specific functions, including payment processing and identity verification for fraud prevention and legal obligation fulfilment. Your data will be handled according to applicable data protection laws, and will not be retained longer than
necessary, the longest being three years.
