Antique Narrow Georgian Mahogany Estate Chest of Two over Three Drawers, c1800 A wonderfully narrow and characterful Georgian mahogany chest of drawers, dating to around 1800 and constructed in the traditional two-over-three configuration. These slimline estate chests are increasingly hard to find, especially in such honest condition, retaining their deep, rich colour and beautifully worn surface that speaks of two centuries of use. The proportions are superb — elegant, tall and narrow, offering excellent storage without dominating a room, perfect for hallways, landings, bedrooms, cottage interiors or period homes with tight spaces. The drawer fronts show the warm, plum-toned mahogany grain typical of late Georgian furniture, complete with original brass swan-neck handles and decorative escutcheons. All drawers run smoothly and offer generous storage. The chest stands on shaped bracket feet with a later estate-made plinth, adding stability and preserving the piece for continued use. The overall finish is wonderfully authentic: a mellow sheen, honest wear, small shrinkage lines and natural colour variation — everything collectors and decorators look for in a true estate piece. Stylish, practical and full of English country house charm, this is an excellent example of period Georgian furniture with narrow proportions rarely seen today.
