This is an antique sewing box table that's been carefully restored and repainted in a rich, deep aubergine. The top has been stripped back, sanded and finished with a subtle paintwash that lets the natural wood grain show through, then sealed with a hardwearing coating for everyday use.
It sits on elegant tapered legs with an open shelf underneath. The interior is padded and lined with a bold pink and purple floral silk — it's a proper surprise when you lift the lid.
The brass hinges are original and working well. Good as a side table, bedside piece, or somewhere to keep craft supplies, correspondence or jewellery neatly out of sight.
This is an older piece with the character that comes with age, properly restored and solid throughout.
