Dine in resplendent Victorian style with this antique mahogany table and chairs

This beautifully ornate Victorian dining table, crafted from mahogany, is a feast for the eyes.,

Seating 4-6 guests comfortably, the winding mechanism, which is happily in perfect working order, gives this piece a real sense of theatre and harks back to the days of Victorian engineering and craftmanship.

The gentle oval shape of the table balances the more flamboyant and decorative features of the ball and claw legs and castors.

When it came to restyling this table, the emphasis was on staying true to its roots. There is nothing to be gained by “gilding the lily” here.

The gorgeous wood grain of the tabletop was enriched with a beautiful satin finish oil, whilst the legs and frame were painted in an authentic grey shade and glazed with an antique silvery hue.

The carvings and detailing were dry brushed with white to make them really stand out.

The finished effect is stunning, and a fitting testament to the craftsmen who perfected the art of creating beautifully practical, handmade furniture, over a century ago; furniture that is still in huge demand today.

The chairs match the table beautifully with the claw and ball feet and the splat back with the carved detailing brought to life with white wax enhancing the detailing.

The chair pop out seats have been recovered by a professional upholsterer using this stunning pheasant scene material in grey black beige and white pulling all the colours together for the finished look.

Drinks Cabinet

All is well with the cabinet and looks great. It's in storage for a while, the room is not ready as the house is under renovation but will be perfect and I think will be much-loved. Bringing a house and furniture to life is a rewarding combination.
