A distinctive early 20th century pine cabinet, thoughtfully restored and reimagined as a “French bistro”–inspired coffee and tea station.Carefully refurbished, I chose to preserve many of the original signs of age, allowing the piece to retain its authenticity and quiet history. The exterior is finished in a refined black, contrasted with a warm beige and taupe striped interior, creating depth and understated sophistication.
What makes this cabinet truly unique are the subtle yet striking gold details.
A vintage-style French gold-leaf motif decorates the back surface, reminiscent of early 20th century perfumeries and traditional soap houses. The typography and ornamentation evoke old-world Parisian advertising, adding character and narrative to the piece.
The edges have been gently highlighted with aged gold wax, softly muted to create a time-worn patina rather than a bright metallic finish. The original handles have been preserved and refinished in an antique gold tone, enhancing their authenticity while complementing the decorative detailing.
The entire cabinet has been sealed and varnished for extra protection, ensuring durability while maintaining its elegant finish.
The upper shelves are ideal for neatly arranging everyday essentials like coffee beans, tea canisters, cups or small kitchen accessories.
