1929 CWS Upcycled Chest of Drawers with Oval Mirror | Antique Green Dresser

Originally manufactured nearly a century ago, this piece carries the sturdy, reliable soul of early 20th-century British furniture design. Now transformed into a statement piece to fit perfectly in a modern, bohemian or maximalist interior.

THE DETAILS

- Maker: CWS (Co-operative Wholesale Society)

- Year of Manufacture: 1929 (verified by a label I found on the back of one of the drawers during cleaning, finding these little pieces of history are part of why I absolutely love my job!)

- Features: Original tilting oval mirror and three spacious drawers, which have been lined with botanical inspired paper.

- Hardware: Brass handles which I've polished up and added a touch of gold gilding wax.

- Durability: Sealed with wax, creating a velvety finish and great protection.

RESTORATION & FINISH

This piece has undergone a thorough professional transformation:

Prep: Thoroughly cleaned, sanded and primed to ensure a long-lasting finish.

Paint: Fusion mineral paint in the shade Park Bench, with a Graphite Gray colour wash over top to add depth.

Artistry: The drawer fronts feature hand-applied geometric stencilling that echo the curves of the oval mirror.

Finish: The piece has been lightly distressed, then clear waxed for durability.  I have also used black wax to create extra dimension and character.

CONDITION & SUSTAINABILITY

By choosing upcycled furniture, you are giving a second life to a high-quality vintage piece.  All of my pieces have been revamped with great care and attention to detail.  However, they have all had previous lives and may carry some minor signs of their age.  Although this piece is in overall very good condition for it's almost 100 years of life, it does have some small surface scratches and the mirror has age patina, please be aware of this before purchasing.

Delivery will be made by a trusted courier, this is a one-person service, made to ground floor only.  As this piece is large, help may be required on delivery.
