A beautifully decorative vintage folding screen featuring intricate peacock and floral panels set within a richly carved wooden frame.
The two hinged panels feature striking dark grounds decorated with shimmering mother-of-pearl-style inlay depicting elegant peacocks amongst flowering branches. Intricate carved detailing continues around the wooden borders and lower panels, giving the piece character from every angle.
At approximately 86 cm high, this is a compact decorative screen rather than a full-height room divider. Its proportions make it particularly versatile: it could be displayed as a decorative fireplace screen, table or furniture-top partition, statement backdrop, or freestanding decorative feature in a living room, bedroom, hallway or study.
The screen folds neatly in half, making it easy to reposition or store when not in use.
Its combination of carved wood, dark lacquer-style panels and delicate bird-and-flower decoration gives it a wonderfully distinctive vintage character, particularly suited to eclectic, Chinoiserie-inspired, maximalist and traditional interiors.
In good vintage condition overall. As with all vintage pieces, there are signs of age and previous use, which form part of the history, individuality and charm of the piece.
