Late 19th Century Carved Gothic Oak Hall Stand

A striking and architectural Gothic Revival oak hall stand, richly carved and full of late 19th-century character.

The upper section is beautifully detailed with pierced Gothic arches, bold foliate carving and turned side columns, framing the original central mirror. The oak has developed a deep, mellow patina over time, enhancing the depth and definition of the carving.

The central mirror displays age-related foxing and light crazing to the plate, entirely in keeping with its period and adding to its authenticity.

Below sits a carved frieze drawer, ideal for gloves and smaller essentials, over a practical undershelf. The original metal drip trays for umbrellas remain in situ - a charming and functional survival.

Condition is solid and sturdy. The lower undershelf shows a historic bow and evidence of an old repair, stable and part of its story. The top section retains one original locating dowel; the other has broken at some stage but could easily be secured in position if desired.

A handsome and atmospheric piece - perfect for a period hallway, adding both drama and practical storage.

A fine example of Gothic Revival craftsmanship with honest age and presence.
