A striking late Victorian/Edwardian marble-topped washstand, dating to approximately 1900–1915, beautifully restored and thoughtfully reimagined while retaining the features that make this piece so special.
Originally designed as a bedroom washstand, this substantial piece combines wonderful period craftsmanship with incredibly useful storage, making it equally at home today as a chest of drawers, bedroom piece, hallway statement piece or elegant bathroom storage.
The magnificent original marble top is in perfect condition and has been retained providing a dramatic contrast to the warmth of the burr walnut below. Its natural markings and character are completely unique and give the piece a wonderful sense of history.
 The original burr walnut drawer fronts were simply too beautiful to cover. They have been carefully cleaned and buffed to enhance their extraordinary swirling grain and rich natural tones.
The surrounding frame and elegant turned legs have been hand-painted in Heritage Setting Stone – a beautifully understated warm mousy brown with a subtle whisper of green. The softness of the colour allows both the walnut and marble to take centre stage (see last photo for actual colour).
Original decorative drop handles and castors have also been retained, preserving the character and craftsmanship of this remarkable piece. With four generously sized drawers, it offers plenty of practical storage while being beautiful enough to become a real focal point in a room.
