The chair is a Louis XV style armchair, also known as a French Fauteuil. This style is characterized by its graceful curves, cabriole legs, and ornate frame.
Key Characteristics
Style: Louis XV / French Fauteuil / Rococo Revival
Frame: The frame is finished in a glossy dark blue, highlighting the decorative curves and carvings. there are minimal chips to the paint (please see pictures) which only adds to the character and patina of the piece.
Upholstery: It features a deep blue crushed velvet fabric with gold/brass nailhead trim.
Design: The chair exhibits a curved backrest and scrolled armrests, designed for both comfort and elegance.
The chair's design is typical of the 19th-century Rococo Revival period, also sometimes referred to as the Napoleon III style.
This stunning deep seated sprung base chair is much heavier and well built than cheap reproductions. It is stunning quality and would be an amazing addition to any room in the house.
