There is something wonderfully reassuring about a piece of furniture that has stood the test of time.

This beautiful solid oak chest of drawers has been sympathetically restored to celebrate its craftsmanship and preserve the character it has acquired over generations. Rather than hiding its history beneath paint, I chose to honour the natural beauty of the oak, carefully reviving the timber and protecting it with a durable hardwax oil finish that enhances the warmth and depth of the grain.

As I worked on this chest, I found myself thinking of my grandad, who lovingly made my gran an elegant oak sewing box with a lift-up lid lined in pale pink satin. There was something about the quiet craftsmanship of this piece that brought those memories flooding back. It reminded me that furniture isn't simply made to be useful – it becomes part of family life, quietly witnessing everyday moments and holding memories for generations.

Every drawer has been cleaned and restored, the original decorative handles carefully retained, and the entire piece has been finished to ensure it is ready to become part of another family's story.

Whether placed in a bedroom, hallway or living space, this timeless chest offers generous storage while bringing warmth, authenticity and understated elegance to your home.

"I don’t like to match furniture and love mish mash, quirky and odd looking things lol. I absolutely love them. My house is 203 years old and is grade II listed. I think it makes an old cottage come alive and puts a modern twist on it. I love furniture that tells a story or gets people talking at a house party".
