W891mm Traditional Bathroom Vanity Unit - Windsor - Available

Originally crafted during the late Victorian era, circa 1880–1900, this beautiful antique washstand has been carefully restored and reimagined as a traditional bathroom vanity. More than 125 years after it was first made, a piece of furniture originally designed for washing and dressing has been returned to its roots, now thoughtfully adapted for the modern bathroom.

The washstand retains the distinctive craftsmanship of its era, including elegantly turned front legs with decorative ring and baluster detailing, square-section rear legs designed to sit neatly against a wall and a beautifully shaped lower shelf. Its recessed central cupboard, with traditional moulded panelling, provides useful enclosed storage, while the open lower shelf offers additional space for towels, baskets or bathroom essentials.

Our in-house carpenters have carefully increased the height of the original washstand to create a more practical bathroom vanity, ensuring the new upper section complements the furniture's original proportions. The full-width drawer has also been re-engineered around the basin and plumbing to retain usable storage, with traditional antique brass-effect cup handles and a coordinating cupboard knob completing the transformation.

Following the necessary restoration and carpentry work, the furniture was thoroughly prepared, primed and professionally spray-finished in Farrow & Ball's - Treron (No. 292). This sophisticated dark sage green has a timeless heritage feel, beautifully highlighting the Victorian detailing while lending itself equally well to traditional and contemporary bathrooms.

The vanity is crowned with a custom-cut, drilled and polished Carrara Misterio quartz worktop, predominantly white with delicate grey veining. Its subtle marble-like appearance creates a fresh contrast against the Treron cabinetry and provides the perfect setting for a spacious rectangular ceramic countertop basin.

Completing the arrangement is a traditional tall antique brass mixer tap, featuring an elegant curved spout and a white ceramic-accented handle, alongside a matching antique brass pop-up waste. The warm brass finish adds a lovely period touch, complementing both the rich cabinetry colour and the crisp white stone.

What makes this vanity particularly special is its connection to the past. Victorian washstands were once an essential part of everyday washing rituals, long before fitted bathrooms became commonplace. By preserving its original character and carefully adapting its construction, we have brought this beautiful piece of furniture back to its original purpose in a completely new way.

A genuine Victorian antique, thoughtfully restored for modern living, with the craftsmanship, individuality and enduring character that simply cannot be replicated by mass-produced furniture.

Timeless by design. Made to outlive trends.
