Long before it became a bathroom vanity, it would have stood proudly in a bedroom or dressing room, quietly serving daily life for years. Built from oak and rich in character, it has now been carefully stripped, fully restored and thoughtfully reimagined into a striking countertop basin vanity, ready to begin its next chapter in the modern home.

What immediately sets this piece apart is its beautiful balance of detail and practicality. The upper section features a spacious full-width cupboard, discreetly concealed behind the original façade and decorative carved panels. This allows for generous storage while preserving the authentic appearance of the original furniture.

Beneath, two generously sized drawers remain fully functional. This is one of the things we care deeply about, ensuring these pieces are not only beautiful to look at, but genuinely practical to live with every day.

The timber itself tells much of the story. Fully stripped back during restoration, the oak revealed a beautiful grain pattern with rich movement and natural variation throughout. A walnut stain has been carefully applied to enhance this character, deepening the warmth of the wood and drawing attention to the grain without masking its natural beauty. The result is a finish that feels rich, warm and timeless.

The original handles have been lovingly restored, cleaned and polished, bringing back their detail and charm. Alongside the carved upper panels, they give the piece a wonderful sense of craftsmanship and heritage, the kind of detailing that makes furniture feel truly special.

Above, the Amber stone worktop introduces a crisp, elegant contrast to the warmth of the timber below. Predominantly white with delicate gold veining flowing subtly across the surface, it brightens the overall composition while complementing the oak beautifully. Finished with a clean chamfered edge profile and matching upstand, it adds a refined architectural finish that feels both traditional and contemporary.

At the centre sits a large rectangular countertop basin, bold yet beautifully simple in form. Its clean lines create a striking contrast against the characterful timber beneath. Paired with a tall traditional-style antique brass mixer tap and matching pop-up waste, the overall combination feels effortlessly balanced, warm wood, soft stone, crisp ceramic and aged brass all working harmoniously together.

As with all of our restorations, longevity has been just as important as aesthetics. Once restoration was complete, the entire unit was sealed with a durable clear satin lacquer, protecting the timber against moisture, vapour and everyday bathroom use whilst allowing the natural beauty of the wood to remain fully visible.

There is something deeply satisfying about giving furniture a second life. Not simply preserving it, but adapting it in a way that respects its craftsmanship while making it useful once again.
