Victorian Walnut Inlaid Ladies Writing Desk / Bureau
A charming Victorian Walnut ladies writing desk / bureau with elegant proportions and attractive floral inlay to the fall-front panel. Raised on slender cabriole legs with decorative brass escutcheons, this is a particularly graceful piece with plenty of character and age-related charm.
The bureau opens to reveal a fitted interior with small drawers and compartments above a green tooled writing surface, making it both decorative and practical. The pierced brass gallery to the top adds another lovely period detail.
The piece has developed a rich aged patina over the years, with fading, surface wear, marks and chips to the veneer throughout that suit the antique character well. The floral inlay remains very decorative and eye-catching.
Condition: General age-related wear, fading, marks and chipping to the veneer throughout as pictured. The two lower rear brass foot escutcheons are missing, though this does not affect the structure or use of the piece. Overall solid, elegant and full of antique charm.
