VINTAGE C. H. GILBERT & CO. SHEFFIELD CABINET GRAMOPHONE
A very interesting and increasingly collectible vintage British cabinet gramophone manufactured by C. H. Gilbert & Co. of Sheffield.
The machine features the distinctive original “GILBERT – THE WORLD'S BEST MUSIC” maker's badge, original wooden cabinet, wind-up gramophone mechanism, turntable, Gilbert tone arm and Tone Reflector soundbox.
The cabinet has a lovely aged dark wood finish and the machine has plenty of original period components and fittings. The interior also includes the original record/storage compartment.(12330
Approximate date: 1920s / early 1930s.
Condition:
Used antique condition with age-related marks, scratches, dust and signs of wear to the cabinet and metalwork, as shown in the photographs. The original finish has some areas of wear consistent with age. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
IMPORTANT: The gramophone is being sold as untested. I have not tested the motor/mechanism or confirmed playback, so it should be considered a restoration/collector's item rather than a guaranteed working gramophone.
A particularly attractive piece for a gramophone collector, antique dealer, vintage music enthusiast or period interior/display.
