Vintage Meredew Mid Century Teak Metamorphic Drinks Cocktail Cabinet Bar

A fabulous and increasingly hard-to-find vintage Meredew teak metamorphic drinks cabinet, dating from around the 1970s.

A wonderful piece of British Mid-Century furniture that looks relatively compact when closed, but cleverly transforms into an impressive 170cm-wide home cocktail bar when opened.

Beautifully designed in warm teak veneer, the cabinet features Meredew's distinctive long recessed handles and a wonderfully clever metamorphic design. The two outer sections open outwards and the upper leaves lift into position, creating a generous bar top – perfect for preparing and serving drinks when entertaining.

Behind the two central doors is an excellent amount of storage, with two adjustable shelves providing plenty of room for bottles, glassware, cocktail accessories and barware.

When the evening is over, everything can be stored neatly away and the cabinet folds back down to just 101cm wide, making this a particularly practical piece for homes where space is at a premium.

Condition

This is an original vintage piece and naturally displays some signs of its previous life, including light marks and scratches consistent with its age. There is also a small area of veneer loss to the lower edge of one side, as shown clearly in the photographs. This is largely unobtrusive when the cabinet is in use and does not affect its function or stability.
