Inspired by the grandeur of Britain's historic manor houses, this beautiful Elizabethan Revival bureau has been thoughtfully restored and transformed into a handcrafted bathroom vanity, allowing its remarkable character to be appreciated in a completely new way.
Manufactured during the mid-20th century, the cabinet was created to celebrate the craftsmanship of an earlier age. From the striking Gothic-inspired carved drawer fronts to the distinctive panelled cupboard doors and original wrought-style ironmongery, every detail reflects the enduring appeal of traditional British furniture design.
Rather than disguising its heritage, our restoration has been guided by it.
The bureau has been completely stripped back to reveal the natural beauty of the oak before being carefully refinished to enhance its warm grain and distinctive texture. A clear satin lacquer has then been applied, protecting the timber against moisture, steam and everyday bathroom conditions whilst allowing the authentic character of the wood to remain proudly on display.
Above the restored cabinet sits a luxurious Amber stone worktop, chosen for its elegant white base and delicate ribbons of warm golden veining. The stone introduces brightness without competing with the rich oak below, creating a beautifully balanced contrast between light and dark. Finished with a traditional Ogee edging profile and complemented by a matching stone upstand, the worktop brings a sense of refinement that perfectly suits the cabinet's period styling.
A spacious rectangular under-mounted basin sits seamlessly within the stone, its cut-out finished with a soft Half Bullnose profile to create smooth, elegant edges that reflect the quality of the craftsmanship throughout. Completing the arrangement is a premium traditional three-hole brushed brass tap set, introducing warmth and timeless elegance while complementing the restored iron hardware below.
Practicality has been considered just as carefully as appearance. The upper drawer has been expertly re-engineered by our in-house carpentry team, allowing modern plumbing to be concealed whilst retaining valuable everyday storage. Beneath, a generously sized double cupboard provides ample room for towels, toiletries and bathroom essentials, making this vanity every bit as functional as it is beautiful.
Throughout the restoration, the original hinges, ring pulls and fittings have been carefully cleaned, restored and reinstated. These authentic details continue to tell the story of the cabinet, preserving the craftsmanship and personality that make every piece unique.
This is not simply a vanity inspired by traditional furniture.
It is a genuine vintage bureau, thoughtfully reimagined for modern living while preserving the craftsmanship, character and architectural beauty that have allowed it to endure for generations.
Created for homes that value authenticity, timeless design and furniture with a story to tell.
A remarkable piece of history, beautifully restored and ready to become the centrepiece of your bathroom.

"I don’t like to match furniture and love mish mash, quirky and odd looking things lol. I absolutely love them. My house is 203 years old and is grade II listed. I think it makes an old cottage come alive and puts a modern twist on it. I love furniture that tells a story or gets people talking at a house party".
