Long before electricity lit our homes or plumbing became commonplace, this remarkable George III bureau was already part of everyday life. Crafted between 1760 and 1790, it has survived more than two centuries of changing fashions, generations of ownership and the passing of time. Today, its story continues in an entirely new setting.
Built from solid antique oak, the timber possesses a richness that simply cannot be recreated. Deep, warm tones flow through every drawer front, while the distinctive grain reveals the slow growth of centuries-old trees. Gentle signs of age remain visible throughout the piece, celebrating its authenticity rather than concealing it. They are reminders that this is not reproduction furniture, but a genuine piece of British history.
Every stage of its transformation has been carried out with respect for the original craftsmanship. The bureau has been completely stripped, carefully restored, expertly re-engineered by our in-house carpentry team and refinished in its original dark oak tone, allowing the natural beauty and character of the timber to take centre stage once again.
Resting above the restored oak is our beautiful Amber stone worktop. Its warm ivory background is enriched with soft movement and delicate veining, creating a gentle contrast against the darker timber below. Finished with an elegant Cove Du Pont edging profile, the worktop introduces graceful curves that complement the traditional detailing of the cabinet beneath. A matching stone upstand completes the composition, creating a seamless and refined finish.
At its centre sits a generously proportioned oval under-mounted basin by RAK Ceramics, chosen for its timeless shape and understated elegance. Above, premium Burlington three-hole crosshead taps in polished gold, accompanied by a matching waste, bring a sense of classic luxury. Their period styling feels entirely at home on a piece whose origins stretch back to the Georgian era.
Behind the beautifully restored drawer fronts, modern practicality has been carefully concealed. The drawers been individually adapted by our in-house carpenters to accommodate contemporary plumbing while preserving as much usable storage as possible. The original proportions remain untouched, allowing the vanity to retain the appearance that has defined it for well over two hundred years.
Throughout the restoration, the aim has never been to erase the past, but to preserve it. Original brass swan-neck handles and escutcheons remain an integral part of the design, their aged finish sitting naturally against the restored oak and reinforcing the bureau's unmistakable heritage.
It is an authentic Georgian antique, thoughtfully restored for modern living while retaining the craftsmanship, character and presence that have allowed it to endure for over 230 years. Created for homes that appreciate genuine history, timeless materials and furniture with a story worth preserving.
This is far more than a bathroom vanity.
Made to become part of your home's history.

"I don’t like to match furniture and love mish mash, quirky and odd looking things lol. I absolutely love them. My house is 203 years old and is grade II listed. I think it makes an old cottage come alive and puts a modern twist on it. I love furniture that tells a story or gets people talking at a house party".
