Dating from the Edwardian era, circa 1900–1915, this beautifully proportioned chest of drawers has been carefully rescued and transformed into an exceptional traditional vanity unit, blending over a century of craftsmanship with modern-day function.

Originally built from solid oak, this antique piece carries the unmistakable character that only age can create. The grain runs boldly across each drawer front, rich with natural movement and texture, while subtle signs of its past remain gently visible throughout. These age-earned details are not imperfections, but part of the story, quiet reminders of a piece that has lived, endured and now begins a new chapter.

Every stage of the transformation has been completed with care and precision. The chest has been fully stripped back, meticulously restored, expertly re-carpentered and refinished to honour its original craftsmanship while adapting it for contemporary living. The result is a vanity that feels both timeless and purposeful.

Above the restored oak sits a luxurious Florence stone worktop, bringing brightness and elegance to the piece. Inspired by the timeless beauty of white marble, Florence offers soft grey veining that drifts diagonally across a crisp white base, creating a look that feels both relaxed and sophisticated. It introduces a sense of lightness without overwhelming the warmth of the timber beneath.

Enhancing the worktop further is the striking Du Pont edging profile, a detail chosen for its sense of refinement and grandeur. Its short 90-degree drop flows into a softened rounded edge, creating a bold profile that adds depth, presence, and a distinctly luxurious finish.

At the centre sits a spacious oval under-mounted basin by RAK Ceramics, chosen for its elegant proportions and understated design. Its smooth, flowing form softens the strong architectural lines of the vanity, bringing balance and harmony to the overall composition.

Internally, each drawer has been thoughtfully adapted by our carpentry team to work seamlessly around modern plumbing, maximising usable space while preserving the integrity of the original structure.

The finishing details complete the piece beautifully. Aged brass cup handles by French Furniture Fittings sit proudly across the drawer fronts, their warm patina complementing the timber’s rich tones. Above, premium London 1916 taps in aged brass, paired with a matching waste, introduce classic period styling with enduring quality. The traditional crosshead design feels perfectly at home here, reinforcing the piece’s heritage character.

The oak has been finished in a rich walnut stain, deepening the natural beauty of the grain and drawing out the warmth within the timber. Protected with a clear satin lacquer, the finish preserves the wood while allowing its authentic texture and character to remain fully visible.
