Welcome to Upcite

Hello and welcome to Upcite! My name is Cole and I built Upcite at university. I sold furniture at school and developed a passion for stories as you never knew what you’d find and where a piece had been.

I also made it my mission to help animals through reuse. If you would like to read more about our story, here is our about us.

If you have a really cool piece of furniture, whether it is an antique or has been upcycled/restored, we would love to help you sell it…

Best Practices

To sell the most on Upcite, I have listed some facts to help make your profile the best it can be.

Listing
Images - how many should I add? I analysed more than 500 orders and found;

  • 1-3 image listings 10% of sales.
  • 4-6 image listings 28% of sales.
  • 7-8 image listings 32% of sales.
  • 9 image listings 8% of sales.
  • 10 images 22% of sales.

How to rank higher

  • Upcite is charged more than £80 per month is transaction fees that are due to items that have sold previously and have had to be refunded. We rank sellers higher that keep their listings updated and accurate.

    As well as making your profile look better, I have also found that adding the following profile features can significantly improve conversions. Here is some stats of having features present vs not being present;

  • Having a profile description 5:1.
  • Having a logo 5:1.
  • Having a background photo 3:1.
  • Having a profile picture 2:1.

Is free shipping or shipping with a fee better?
I have found it tends to be 50:50. But, more expensive items tend to have a shipping fee. I believe this is expected with higher value orders.

Other good practices;

  • Fast responses.
  • Communicates well.
  • High quality photos and listing information.
  • We have found a high correlation between the amount of listings and total orders.
  • On average, branded items sell 1.5x more than non-branded items.
