A substantial and well-proportioned mid Victorian twin pedestal writing desk, crafted in richly figured walnut and mahogany, dating to around 1860. This handsome desk is a classic example of high-quality Victorian craftsmanship, combining elegant proportions with robust, practical construction intended for serious daily use.

The rectangular top is inset with its original embossed leather writing surface, beautifully worn and mellowed through honest use, displaying a depth of colour and patina that only time can produce. Below, the desk is fitted with a full-width frieze drawer, flanked by two banks of graduated drawers housed within solid pedestal supports, each drawer retaining its original brass swan-neck handles and working locks.
