Art Deco Style Mid Century Cocktail Cabinet. Vintage. Retro. Black/silver.

Refurbished 1950's/60's Walnut Cocktail Cabinet

This striking mid-century cocktail cabinet is a beautifully restored piece that captures the glamour and functionality of 1960s design. Crafted with rich figured walnut veneer on the front and a mix of other veneers on the beautifully shaped sides, the exterior has been carefully oiled with a hardwax oil, to enhance the natural grain, offering depth to its vintage character as well as extra protection and durability.

A standout feature is the pull-out preparation area, cleverly integrated to provide additional space for mixing and serving drinks. The rear mirror features gold cocktail motifs and both this and the gold striped base mirror are original to the piece. An unusual feature is the pretty rose gold metal edging. I have replaced the mirror on the pull down door with a new one as the original was not in good enough condition to retain.  

The cabinet showcases glazed doors adorned with a subtle silver motif, offering a touch of elegance while giving a glimpse into the stylish interior.  These glazed doors are original and there are tiny areas where the silvering as come away – barely noticeable to the naked eye and in good vintage condition generally and adding to the integrity of the piece.  Glass shelves provide ample storage for glasses.

The entire piece has been hand-painted with a durable black mineral paint, finished in a satin sheen that complements the walnut's warmth while adding a contemporary edge. I use carefully selected hardwearing low VOC paints from small British paint makers.

 Inside the glazed compartments, black ghost stripes add a sophisticated detail. Within the cupboard, you'll find bold black and silver stripes, creating a dramatic focal point and enhancing the retro charm of the cabinet and providing plenty of storage for bottles.

I have keys for all three locks and all doors close and lock smoothly.

This cocktail cabinet blends mid-century form with modern finishes, making it a functional statement piece perfect for stylish entertaining.

All of my pieces are repaired and prepared for painting in the most thorough way.  I strip old varnish, sand the veneer carefully and keep everything that is undamaged…All hardware is original, though I have replaced the old hinges with matt black new hinges so that doors hang correctly and close smoothly.  

This is a most beautiful and stylish piece and will enhance any interior scheme, whether contemporary or traditional

Rivington Cocktail cabinets, made in the 50’s and 60’s are highly sought after and this is a particularly unusual piece.

The cocktail accessories are intended as decoration and not for use.  While they certainly could be used, I have painted the metal which holds them and continued use will scratch the paint.

All of the furniture I sell is vintage or antique and has enjoyed a previous life. Whilst professionally refinished/restored, some minor or discreet signs of wear may remain, or other age-related indicators such as pitting to metalwork, or ghosting to mirrored sections may be present. Such minor imperfections only serve to add to the provenance and history of the pieces, but should you have any concerns about any aspect of condition, feel free to contact me and I'll be only too happy to help.  This piece has a few tiny missing patches on the silvering on the door motif and some nibbling around the edges of two glass shelves.  Neither is noticeable.
