This rare Lebus piece has been draped in a sumptuous cloak of deep black, with gold fan stencil along the top and sides, chosen to be in keeping with the era. The drawer grain was just too beautiful to cover, so I restored and glossed it up to a satisfying sheen. The original handles were also too stunning to change when all they needed was a good clean and a coat of gold to make them shine again!
I have used a tough glossy varnish to give the set a glamorous shine and lifelong durability. Matte looks just as good on this style!

I was looking for a piece to stand next to a small ornate fireplace in our 1920’s build home and kept coming back to this lovely makeover, named ‘Grace’. I’m so delighted to have bought it. Mandy took time and care in delivering it and although she emphasised the fact it was an old piece I can only re-emphasise that that is exactly what I was looking for. It is testament to her skills that she has given ‘Grace’ a wonderful new lease of life. The stencilling on the drawers is top notch; the piece is painted beautifully - including the bits you wouldn’t normally see, which I prefer. The beautifully highlighted claw feet on the bottom of the piece are a real treat to look at, and my beady-eyed art tutor/’general expert on painted stuff’ agreed Mandys’ work is superb – sympathetic to the piece and to a high standard. I know I shall enjoy having Grace grace our home for many years. Thank you Mandy.
