A classic two drawer, two door Ercol Elm sideboard. Useful mid sized piece with a half depth internal full width shelf.
The original dark waxed finish was looking rather dull and heavy in my opinion so I decided to add some life with colour.
To begin, I cleaned thoroughly with sugar soap solution and white spirit to remove the wax residue. I scuff sanded and then primed with Dixie Belle Bonding Boss Primer to improve the adhesion of the paint. Next, I applied two coats of Conch pink by Dixie Belle Paint to all interior surfaces including the drawer inners. I then applied three coats of the custom mix of Prairie Sunset yellow and Cashmere cream by Fusion Mineral Paint to the exterior. The piece was then sealed with Polyvine varnish to protect the paintwork.
