George III Oak Linen Press (c. Late 18th Century)

A fine George III period oak linen press, displaying all the warmth and character of well-aged timber. The moulded cornice sits above a pair of bead-moulded panel doors, opening to reveal two later fitted shelves. The base is arranged with two short over two graduated lip-moulded drawers, each retaining handsome brass handles, and the whole rests upon shaped bracket feet.

This is a beautiful and practical piece of Georgian furniture — admired for its rich patina, elegant proportions, and versatile size.

Details:

• Excellent colour and surface with a lovely natural sheen.

• A useful and manageable scale — not overly large.

• Quality brass handles and escutcheons throughout.

• Supplied with working key.

• Internally fitted with two later shelves — sympathetic replacements that serve their purpose well.

• Evidence of old (now inactive) woodworm, fully treated.

• One back bracket foot front missing, though structurally sound and stable.

• Minor loss to a small piece of trim on the right-hand side of the cabinet.

A charming and honest example of late 18th-century craftsmanship — full of character and ready for use in any stylish interior.

"I don’t like to match furniture and love mish mash, quirky and odd looking things lol. I absolutely love them. My house is 203 years old and is grade II listed. I think it makes an old cottage come alive and puts a modern twist on it. I love furniture that tells a story or gets people talking at a house party".
