When I first met this little blank box it showed all the signs of having had a fun packed life with a family of young boys. Providing some where to store their toys, stand on to reach up high and occasionally doodle while reading a book.
Stripping the piece back to bare wood and sanding out the worst signs of daily life, I had a blank canvas to start a new journey in different direction.
A bespoke colour mix to create a sophisticated smoky green was the start of my journey with a blended stain to the top gave a warm finish that would sit comfortably in any room, but my journey didn’t end there. The opportunity to do something on the inside of the blanket box lid was too good to waste and a layered stencil with silver leaf added an element of surprise and the addition of some feet the blanket box was elevated to another level.
Finished in hard wearing chalk paint varnish with a wax top coat for a soft lustre and a stain and oil finish to the top.
New hardware and a soft close fitting finished the she’s ready for the next party.
