This striking mahogany knee-hole five drawer desk / dressing has been given a contemporary new look, whilst highlighting its beautiful original features.
A quality, sturdy desk with a central drawer flanked by two shorter drawers on both sides. Traditional features include moulded edges, hand cut dovetail joints, solid wood bases and original handles.
The beautifully turned legs on original castors have been painted in the “blackest of black” mineral paint by Sophie James, and top has been stripped and restained to add sheen and depth to the colour with a black border to match the legs.
The raw wooden components have been treated with a nourishing wood balm that leaves a gentle citrus scent, reviving and restoring the wood's natural beauty.
Whether used as a desk or dressing table, you will be sure to appreciate this quality vintage piece for many years to come.
This piece remains structurally solid and sound. It is in good condition throughout with some signs of age which do not detract from its beauty. There are age-related marks and light scratches, as well as some minor damage to the front of the knee hole (please see detailed photos).

"I was looking for a piece to stand next to a small ornate fireplace in our 1920’s build home and kept coming back to this lovely makeover, named ‘Grace’. I’m so delighted to have bought it. Mandy took time and care in delivering it and although she emphasised the fact it was an old piece I can only re-emphasise that that is exactly what I was looking for. It is testament to her skills that she has given ‘Grace’ a wonderful new lease of life. The stencilling on the drawers is top notch; the piece is painted beautifully - including the bits you wouldn’t normally see, which I prefer. The beautifully highlighted claw feet on the bottom of the piece are a real treat to look at, and my beady-eyed art tutor/’general expert on painted stuff’ agreed Mandys’ work is superb – sympathetic to the piece and to a high standard. I know I shall enjoy having Grace grace our home for many years".

"I don’t like to match furniture and love mish mash, quirky and odd looking things lol. I absolutely love them. My house is 203 years old and is grade II listed. I think it makes an old cottage come alive and puts a modern twist on it. I love furniture that tells a story or gets people talking at a house party".
