This Avalon chest of drawers has the kind of presence mid-century makers did so well: simple lines, sturdy tapered legs, and teak with a natural stripe that needs no embellishment. Absolutely everything about it is understated — just good proportions and vintage design. So the update was kept deliberately restrained to bring out the quiet character that was already there.
Now the deep blue detailing introduces a calm, modern note. The warmth of the teak sits against the blue beautifully, giving that satisfying contrast between classic grain and contemporary colour.
Running across the drawers in a crisp geometric pattern, the lines add a sense of movement. Each one is edged in gold, quietly echoing the original handles and pulling the whole piece together.
The five drawers are solid, smooth and useful — enough space for everyday bits and pieces without feeling bulky. And the piece itself is surprisingly adaptable. In a hallway it gives you a sense of order the moment you walk in. In a bedroom it adds depth and a touch of mid-century stillness.
