OAK SIDEBOARD
I have hand painted this 100yr old oak sideboard in layers of Annie Sloan colours, with Athenian Black as the base, then a mixed blend of Paris Grey and Old White. The top has been hand painted in the same colours, with Athenian Black as the final coat. The sideboard has been lightly distressed to reveal layers of paint and original wood colour, then sealed with clear wax and hints of black wax to enhance the wood details and depth of finish. The inside of the drawers and cupboards have been finished with dark walnut satin varnish.
This sideboard boasts lovely carvings, bobbin turned legs, decorative front and side trim, two large storage cupboards, dovetail joint drawers, oak panelled back, original antique brass teardrop handles, escutcheons and two door locks with key. All of the original hardware has been cleaned and buffed. The upstand back can be unscrewed of the top for ease of transport.

We found this really good website called Upcite where we saw lots of different and unusual furniture. We were after something oldie looking to go under the eaves in our little snug room that has oak beams. This needed to be a specific size and look. Soo pleased when we found the Upcite website with a range of possibilities. We ordered a sideboard and it arrived within a few days and fits perfectly. It now looks lovely with it’s Christmas Garland on! From our experience we would recommend Upcite to others.
I did eventually receive the sideboard after a lot of back and forth, and the seller reached out to me. It arrived with a few scratches but that’s not the sellers fault and can be touched up. The experience however was rather stressful. I wish the seller had been as proactive from the start and not only after I complained, as it is simply nerve wrecking to spend close to £1000 and then never really hear from them and having to chase them repeatedly and the item not being delivered when it was agreed. Overall I am happy with the sideboard, but my experience wasn’t great and that’s how I genuinely feel.
