This is a stunning, handpainted vintage Queen Anne reproduction cocktail cabinet, constructed in the 1960's and made of solid wood. The entire piece is in its' original condition, with exception of the wiring and plug for the internal light, which I have re-done.

As a furniture artist, meticulous preparation forms the basis of my creative process. Function is as important to me as form and everything works exactly as it should, smoothly and ready for years more use! This piece is excellent vintage condition.

I have stripped off the old brown varnish, sanded and primed and then used chalk paint to create an antique texture to form the basis of the vintage Japanese look I was aiming for.

I used Annie Sloan's 'Primer Red', over which I layered 'Oriental Red' by Craig&Rose paints. Two coats of Annie Sloan's 'Athenian Black' complete the desired paint effect. The entire piece has then been protected with black wax.

I am an artist by profession so I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to paint freehand on this piece...I have been waiting for the right piece of furniture to fit my two lovely ladies onto....look at the narrative, the Geisha on the right is reading a note and the one on the left is covertly watching her...I sketched the figures in white pencil on the black ground, then made a bold outline in a gold fine tip watercolour pen. For the kimono, I used various chalk paints....

Artisitic influences are Utamaro and Klimt. Utamaro the classical style of visual representation of the geisha with Klimt providing the design aesthetic.

Inside, the cabinet is decorated with handpainted fragments of poetry in classical calligraphy from the Edo period in Japanese history (1603-1868). Koi carp in gold leaf complete the interior scheme.

This is a small cabinet, which will complement both contemporary and traditional interior schemes. A truly unique statement piece.

I have tried to show it in all lights.. it is quite dark and subtle, a real antique vibe...the last pic is at night time with a light shining on it and no other light source. You can illuminate it as much as you like with your lighting....or not!

DIMENSIONS; 145cm high, 76cm at widest point of legs, 43 cm deep.

"They are beautiful. I don’t like to match furniture and love mish mash, quirky and odd looking things lol. I absolutely love them. My house is 203 years old and is grade II listed. I think it makes an old cottage come alive and puts a modern twist on it. I love furniture that tells a story or gets people talking at a house party".

Hall Entry Table

I was looking for a piece to stand next to a small ornate fireplace in our 1920’s build home and kept coming back to this lovely makeover, named ‘Grace’. I’m so delighted to have bought it. Mandy took time and care in delivering it and although she emphasised the fact it was an old piece I can only re-emphasise that that is exactly what I was looking for. It is testament to her skills that she has given ‘Grace’ a wonderful new lease of life. The stencilling on the drawers is top notch; the piece is painted beautifully - including the bits you wouldn’t normally see, which I prefer. The beautifully highlighted claw feet on the bottom of the piece are a real treat to look at, and my beady-eyed art tutor/’general expert on painted stuff’ agreed Mandys’ work is superb – sympathetic to the piece and to a high standard. I know I shall enjoy having Grace grace our home for many years. Thank you Mandy.

Singer Sewing Table

I purchased a sowing table from you in April for my sisters birthday but wanted to send you photos when she had planted some flowers. It does look impressive.

Art Deco Drinks Cabinet

I’m still faffing with the cabinet, getting it the right place in our lounge. Everyone absolutely loves it, my mom and sister in particular, even my 10 year old son!

Beautifully decorated drawers

Very happy with my new drawers. The colour and design is just perfect for the space. I love that I have a unique piece of furniture that’s not off the high street and that they are up cycled when I am trying to be less wasteful.
