Stag Minstrel Tallboy. Entirely hand painted. 'Venetian Harlequin'

The 'Venetian Harlequin', a fabulous transformation of a Stag Minstrel tallboy chest of drawers from the iconic range furniture designed by John and Sylvia Reid in the 1960's. Made of wood, these capacious drawers are a beautiful example of the Mid Century style which suits both contemporary and more traditional interior schemes. I buy furniture with great care and look for quality pieces in excellent condition as function is as important to me as the aesthetic. As with all of my vintage pieces, the furniture has been repaired (if necessary) and thoroughly prepped - cleaned, sanded and primed then painted with two or three topcoats to give a flawless finish. These drawers have been painted with an eco friendly, highly durable mineral paint in a dense black. The unique, handpainted harlequin design has been achieved by multiple coats of paint glazes, resulting in a sumptuous, glamorous smooth finish in opulent tones of gold, black and antiqued white. The brass hardware is original but I have added a gorgeous and unusual handle to the centre drawer which, together with the diamond design gives this truly unique statement piece a distinctly Venetian feel.
