This is a one-of-a-kind free-standing wooden shelving unit. It started life many decades ago as a china display cabinet and was heading for landfill in a very sorry state. I removed the doors and stripped off layers of dark varnish. I replaced the dated legs with contemporary light oak legs. The body of the unit is painted in dark green, paired with a very pale green interior. The green shades bring a sense of tranquility and complement the charming butterflies, dragonflies and moths that adorn the shelves.
This piece has many uses with the four shelves providing plenty of storage and display space. It could be very useful in a hallway, kitchen, bedroom or bathroom. The nature-themed decoration on the shelves makes it ideal for a nursery or child’s bedroom.
Please note, as this shelving unit has enjoyed many years of life, there are a few imperfections adding to its character and charm.

We found this really good website called Upcite where we saw lots of different and unusual furniture. We were after something oldie looking to go under the eaves in our little snug room that has oak beams. This needed to be a specific size and look. Soo pleased when we found the Upcite website with a range of possibilities. We ordered a sideboard and it arrived within a few days and fits perfectly. It now looks lovely with it’s Christmas Garland on! From our experience we would recommend Upcite to others.
I did eventually receive the sideboard after a lot of back and forth, and the seller reached out to me. It arrived with a few scratches but that’s not the sellers fault and can be touched up. The experience however was rather stressful. I wish the seller had been as proactive from the start and not only after I complained, as it is simply nerve wrecking to spend close to £1000 and then never really hear from them and having to chase them repeatedly and the item not being delivered when it was agreed. Overall I am happy with the sideboard, but my experience wasn’t great and that’s how I genuinely feel.
